New Arrangements for Patient Transport

Doctors will be receiving a note shortly about changes to the PTS service. I have included the text of the letter here for reference:

Following a request from both Drivers for more work and from GHFT for assistance with late afternoon and early evening patient discharges, we met with NEAS managers during mid-July.

That meeting resulted in a slight change being agreed which will run Monday 04.08.14 – Friday 31.10.14 – Weekdays only but excluding Bank Holidays and TITO days.

The arising actions are:

  • GP – Should you require a PTS journey for a patient then either visit the Reception office or telephone them on 5454. Advise of the patient’s name and Adastra Case No and ask for a PTS booking.
  • RECEPTIONIST – Telephone PTS Control on 0191 226 8870 and advise them that you are GatDoc and give them the patient’s details. They will prioritise your call as this has been agreed with NEAS Managers.
  • DRIVERS – Please ensure that you are able to return to the GatDoc offices by 21.45 hours at the latest as you will still be required to man the reception area after 22.00 hours until the waiting room is clear and the last patient has left the building.

As from Monday 03.11.14, when the WIC and GatDoc services will move into the new ECC building the PTS facility Monday – Friday (excluding Bank Holidays and TITO days) will be under PTS Control as the reception element from 22.00 hours will not be required in the 24 hour manned facility.
