Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards

Many of you will be aware that new safeguards have come into place for patients wha are deemed to have been deprived of their liberty. These arrangements apply to some care and nursing home residents. Should such a patient die, even if expected, the death needs to be reported to the coroner.
In most cases you will not need to take any action as it will fall to the GP or home to make the notification, but you should be aware of the regulations.
